Sandeep Aneja

Managing Partner, Kaizenvest

With 25 years of work experience in private equity investment leadership, and operations management, Sandeep Aneja is considered a thought leader in the private equity space, evident in the frequent references by the media.

Sandeep's passion for investing in innovative companies drove him to establish Kaizenvest (Kaizen Capital Management), which is an education focused asset management firm headquartered in Singapore. Kaizenvest is the only education sector asset management firm investing in emerging Asia and Africa. Kaizenvest’s investors include institutions from the US, Europe and Asia.

He sits on the boards of various education companies across the Philippines, Vietnam and India and is a frequent speaker on emerging investment and impact trends globally. He has an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.

Edna Novak

Head of Asia Pacific Region, Teach for All

Edna Novak is the Head of Asia Pacific Region at Teach For All. In early 2012, Edna moved to New Zealand with Teach For All, initially supporting Teach For All network partners in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. She served as as a consultant to CEOs in adapting Teach For All’s global approach to their local contexts. In 2014, Edna was promoted to lead the East Asia Pacific region of Teach For All, and in 2016, was promoted to her current role as Head of the Asia Pacific Region. She and her team support a diverse and growing community of prospective and current Teach For All partner organizations across the Asia Pacific region to learn from each other and from the broader global network, accelerating their impact both locally and globally. She is based in Auckland, New Zealand, where she has lived since 2012. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and Political Science from Wellesley College, and a Masters of Business Administration from Yale University.

John Pegg

Director, SiMERR National Research Centre, UNE

John Pegg is the Director of the SiMERR National Research Centre based at the University of New England, Australia since 2004. He is known internationally for his contribution to theory-based cognition research linked to the SOLO Model and his advocacy for, and research into, rural and regional education. He is a Chief Investigator for the brain-based, national Australian Science of Learning Research Centre at the Queensland Brain Institute.

Currently, he works in collaboration with the Philippine Normal University (PNU) and the Philippine National Research Center for Teacher Quality (RCTQ) on large-scale multi-year projects, funded by the Australian Government, in promoting national system-wide reforms in quality teaching and school leadership. In 2015, he was awarded a Doctor of Education (Honoris Causa) by PNU for his contribution to Education reform in the Philippines and internationally.

Executive Director, PBEd

Love Basillote is a human capital development and education specialist, with significant experience in non-profit management, program management, public policy, and communications. She is currently the Executive Director of Philippine Business for Education, and is an independent director of a fin-tech start-up. She has a master's degree from Harvard University, and a bachelor’s in Political Science from the Ateneo de Manila University.

Founder and President, Funzi

Aape Pohjavirta is the founder and President of Funzi, a mobile learning service. Funzi gives the world’s billions of mobile users access to motivating and useful learning, and an opportunity to develop skills to build a better tomorrow. Through Funzi, high quality, relevant courses are delivered with a combination of an effective pedagogy and an engaging experience.

In his role at Funzi, Aape has become a recognized industry leader with a vision on how science, technology, and innovation will contribute to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

He has worked with digital since 1988 and in the mobile industry since 1997 in various management roles. Aape is an Apple Achiever, an international patent inventor, an inspirational public speaker, a passionate entrepreneurship coach and a frequent lecturer in universities, incubation and acceleration programs.

Annum Sadiq

Co-Founder and Chief Education Officer, EDKASA

Annum Sadiq is the co-founder and Chief Education Officer of EDKASA Pvt Limited. She has extensive experience with education policy in Pakistan and in the US. She has previously worked in the education sector in different settings. Annum is a Fulbright Scholar and has a MSc in Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University.

EDKASA, an Edtech startup established in 2017 in Pakistan, seeks to expand opportunities for secondary education by connecting students with top teachers using its live, interactive virtual classroom platform. EDKASA makes live teaching web-streams accessible to schools and to students without having to own an internet-enabled device. EDKASA is committed to improving student's learning outcomes and making quality education accessible.
