Dr. Christopher Bernido

President, Central Visayan Institute Foundation (CVIF)

Dr. Christopher Bernido is a physicist and the President of the Central Visayan Institute Foundation (CVIF) in Jagna, Bohol, Philippines. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (Theoretical Physics) and Master of Science (Physics) from the State University of New York at Albany, USA, and Bachelor of Science (Physics) from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. He was conferred the degrees Doctor of Humanities (honoris causa) by Holy Angel University and Doctor of Pedagogy (honoris causa) by Ateneo de Naga University.

As educators, Drs. Christopher and Marivic Bernido in 2002 conceptualized and implemented the CVIF Dynamic Learning Program in their high school, later expanded to more than 200 public and private schools. As a result, many students got high marks in national assessments, college entrance and scholarship exams, and post-high-school studies. In 2010, they were awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award, Asia’s premier prize for service.

Amanda Kelleher

Director, Luminus Education

Amanda Kelleher has considerable experience in human capital development in the Middle East and an excellent understanding of learning and development, and of designing and implementing large-scale technical and vocational programmes in a variety of cultures.

Since 2015, Amanda has been part of the Senior Management team at Luminus Education with a primary focus on design and development of solutions to meet both market and donor requirements. With a background of more than 37 years in education, Amanda also supports capacity building and business development.

Sujatha Muthayya

Vice President for Policy and Partnerships, Bridge International Academies

Sujatha Muthayya is Vice President, Policy and Partnerships at Bridge International Academies. In the last 17 years, she has worked on developing service delivery for the bottom of the pyramid with a particular focus on private education. Over the years, she has worked with the Rural Technology and Business Incubator Professor James Tooley setting up a chain of schools for low income communities in Old Hyderabad. She has also worked for Intellecap where she helped launch Sankalp, and Centre for Civil Society where she launched the country's first national network of low cost schools. She has been with Bridge since 2015 and has been responsible for entry into India, establishing the government partnership and launching the first schools in Andhra Pradesh. As VP, Policy and Partnership, she works on crafting Bridge's services to deliver at scale and with impact projects for governments.

Seth Trudeau

Vice President for Product, ALX

Seth Trudeau is the Vice President of Product for ALX, where he leads a team that designs learning ecosystems and experiences for developing ethical, impactful leaders. His research is focused on informal learning environments that exist outside of the traditional classroom. As a product and service designer, he has built games, simulations and applications for learners from primary school up through postgraduate studies. He began his career teaching history in the US before founding an NGO in South Sudan working with orphans and vulnerable children. Seth has a Master’s degree from Stanford University in Learning, Design, and Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Denver in International Relations.

Ken Vine

Principal Research Adviser, SiMERR National Research Centre, UNE

Ken Vine has a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Study in Computer Science and Cognitive Psychology. His thesis was on computer modelling of self-adapting learning systems. He has 25 years’ experience as senior international education consultant for UNICEF, UNESCO, World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank on projects in 30 countries in Asia, the Pacific and North Africa. Formerly, he was a senior education adviser for AusAid. He is a specialist in education policy and planning, education management information systems, and measurement of learning achievement.

Rafael de Avila

Rafael Oliveira de Ávila

Director of Innovation and Trends in Education, Anima Educacao

As Director of Innovation and Trends in Education, Rafael proposes projects, MVPs, and prototypes of innovative solutions for higher education. He also helps train teachers with an innovative mentality and to act as mentors for students. He trains his teaching colleagues to learn about the use of active learning methodologies, hybrid teaching, and also in the use of technologies, analog and digital, in education. He looks for trends in any area that can also be used in education. Finally, he collaborates in the construction of the students' Life and Career project, bringing solutions that add to their trajectory and so that they become better versions of themselves, good professionals and conscientious citizens.
